Most people traveling find the terminal check-in process long and frustrating. Use these tips on your next venture and you will be at your boarding gate in no time.

1. Most airlines now have an app you can download. Anything you need to do at the check-in counter can be done on the apps like downloading boarding passes and tracking flights. Check-in begins 24 hours before departure.

2. Consolidate clothes and travel items as much as possible. Try to carry on if at all possible. Make sure you can access items such as electronic devices quickly. They will need to be checked separately by TSA.

3. If you have gifts wrap them after you arrive at your destination. This helps a lot with the previous tip.

4. Apply for TSA pre-check. It costs a bit, but if you fly frequently you'll speed right through security. A couple of the perks … keeping your shoes on and your electronic devices packed.

5. When entering the terminal building or security areas, look for lines to your left. Studies show Americans are inclined to turn right entering a building. I have personally found this to be accurate.

6. If you are delayed or have a long layover airline lounges sell day passes. They are not that expensive. Usually about the same price as a terminal restaurant lunch. Look for 2 for 1 pricing when you book your flight. You will have access to food and drinks as well as, comfortable seating areas with big screen televisions. Some also have showers to freshen up for the last leg of your travels.

Follow these tips and you will lessen both your time and stress in the terminal.
