Las Vegas is a mecca for great food. Celebrity chefs have flocked to the strip, opening countless culinary options that carry a hefty price tag. However, there are more affordable options for the food bargain foodie. Over the next five weeks, my blog will break the Vegas Valley into five regions: Southeast (Green Valley), Southwest, Summerlin, North Las Vegas, and the Strip. My top 5 happy hour hot spots were picked based on selection, atmosphere, and price.

Here are my top five picks in Green Valley :

5. Giuseppe's Bar & Grill

Giuseppe's is located on Horizon Ridge Parkway. On a recent visit, I had the "all you can eat" fish and chips for $10.99. The lunch portions are generous, and the prices are great. Their happy hour is an even better bargain. They offer half-price appetizers and drinks in the bar and restaurant. The prices range from $4.50 to $8.50. Popular items include stuffed hot peppers and calamari. At $8.50 the antipasto platter is the way to go, and it's HUGE! Giuseppe's happy hour runs daily from 4-7.

4. Settebello Pizza

Staying with the Italian theme, travel down the road to the District. Settebello serves up appetizers for $5 which include: wood-fired mini pizzas, calzones, and prosciutto wrapped warm provolone cheese. Beer and wine selections are two for one, and the dry Rose is a bargain at $3.50 a glass. Settebello's happy hour runs from 3-7 Monday - Friday.

3. Claim Jumper

Everyone knows about Claim Jumper, but did you know their happy hour has a ton of great options. Appetizers are numerous and range from $2 to $10. My favorites are the wings and coconut shrimp for $6. Check out the onion ring stack, that stands a foot high, for $3. For bigger appetites, indulge in the widow maker burger for $10. It comes with a side of salt and pepper fries. They also offer numerous beer and wine selections from $4 - $6. Happy hour is available in the bar and lounge from 3- closing Monday- Friday.

2. Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory's menu is as big as the Bible, and their half-price appetizers are heavenly. They offer deep fried avocados, Tex Mex egg rolls, and fried Macaroni and cheese ... simply divine. They serve beer, wine, and drink specials from $4.95 - $5.95. Happy hour runs from 4-6 Monday - Friday in the bar and lounge only.

1. Bella Vita

Next time you're at the District check out this truly unique dining experience. The newcomer on the block has a terrific outside bar with plenty of shade. Enjoy many small plate offerings for $7. The meatballs are by far my favorite ... the best in town. The house wine for $5 is a generous pour. Bella Vita is the kind of restaurant a couple could easily call "our place." The owner and manager, Sergio, is a fabulous host. Happy hour runs from 3-6 daily.

Hope you enjoyed Happy Hour Hot Spots: Green Valley. Check them out and let me know what you think. Next week I'll be posting on the Southwest Vegas Valley. Until then ... happy eating, happy travels, and happy hours.
