This is part 4 of Happy Hour Hot Spots. Last week I shared my top five from Summerlin. This week I head up to N. Las Vegas and Aliante. My top 5 spots are picked based on selection, atmosphere, and price.

Here are my top five picks in N. Las Vegas and Aliante:

5. Buffalo Wild Wings

This has become a national super-chain over the past decade. There are 10 locations throughout the greater Las Vegas area. They haven't forgotten about happy hour fans during their growth spurt. You can enjoy it throughout the restaurant, which makes a great family spot. Several of their items from the Shareables menu are $4.00. My favorite is the roasted garlic fried mushrooms. Perfectly infused with garlic, lightly breaded, and deep-fried. They are served with a southwestern ranch dipping sauce. Also, try the street tacos. Three flour tortillas are filled with spicy shredded chicken and topped with pico de gallo, shredded cheese, and fresh cilantro. They have cocktails for $3.00 and the biggest Wild Wing bargain, beer pints for $1.50. Located on Centennial Parkway. Happy hours are from 3 to 6 Monday thru Friday.

4. Outback Steakhouse

Outback is another very popular national chain. Happy hours vary by location. The location reviewed in this post was just off the 95 on Rainbow Boulevard. Of course the name means everything. They have many great steak specials and steak combos. The appetizer menu measures up to these great steaks. They have some incredible half-priced options. The mac & cheese bites are a great start. For $3.50 you get 8 bites filled with Asiago, Mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Try a unique quesadilla. For only $4.00 Outback breaks the rules with this version from "the Land Down Under." It is filled with grilled chicken, mushrooms, bacon, and melted cheese. A honey mustard dipping sauce caps off the Alice Springs Chicken Quesadilla. Of course, I wouldn't eat at Outback without trying the Coconut Shrimp. Sweet, crispy, and plump shrimp coated in coconut and deep fried. It comes with a spicy and sweet creole marmalade for dipping. My Outback favorite is under $6.00 during happy hour. Try all of these with a Fosters beer served in an ice cold mug for $3.00. Aussie happy hours are from 4 to 7 Monday thru Friday and 4-6 Saturday and Sunday.

3. Cutting Board Filipino Gastropub

The Cutting Board is one of the most unique dining options in Las Vegas. In the Philippines, this type of hangout is called a Beer House. The ingredients are traditional Philippine and cooked with the chef's unique flare. They have a huge breakfast menu which even

includes many types of pancakes and omelets. Happy hour is a fabulous treat. Tapas are half-priced with many in-house made options. The biggest bargain is the skewers at $1.75 each. Choose from BBQ pork, shrimp, or fish. You can't get any more Philippine than lumpia. The Cutting Boards are delicious, filled with fresh ground pork, rolled up with fresh vegetables, and fried until golden brown and crispy. Have a bottle of Siracha nearby for dipping. Pork Sisig is what we call pork belly. The cooked Sisig is topped with a fresh mango salad. An order comes with 3 of these flour tortilla tacos for $4.50. They are located just off of Lake Mead Blvd. and the 95. Happy hour at the Philippines is from 2-5 daily.

2. Sierra Gold

Sierra Gold is part of the PT's Pub chain. Here is another location where they serve happy hour during breakfast. Daily from 6-10 a.m. Choose from many of your breakfast favorites at half-price. Great portions to start your day. The pizza is delicious. It has a terrific crispy crust that holds up to the toppings that you choose. There are nearly 30 different toppings to choose from and 6 specialty pizzas. Try any of them for half-off. New to the Sierra Gold happy hour menu are flatbreads. There are 4 to choose from for $8.00. Warning! They are very filling. Also, recently added is the half-pound burger loaded with fresh toppings and a big side of fries. Also a bargain at $8.00. Chase them all down with several half-off beer, wine, and cocktails. Sierra Gold is located just off of the 215 Northern Beltway and happy hour runs from 5 to 7 and 12 to 2 a.m. daily.

1. North Star Bar and Grill

North Star Bar & Grill is a classic. When I verified the happy hour times, I was politely corrected. The manager told me it was 7 days a week 24 hours a day. Usually, that means they don't have one. Not the case at Northstar. The menu prices are incredible and always available. Fish and chips $6.99. All sliders 3 for $5.69. All pizzas $8.25. The Meat Head has lots of meat including lamb. Hot dogs are all $3.95 including the pastrami reuben dog. Of course, there are plenty of burgers and sandwiches at great prices too. Great bars mean great beers and at Northstar, no beer is over $5.00. You'll find this bargain bar on Camino al Norte. Happy hour 24/7.

Hope you enjoyed Happy Hour Hot Spots: N. Las Vegas and Aliante Check them out and let me know what you think. Next week I'll be posting on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip (nearly an impossible task, but we're going to give it a shot). Until then ... happy eating, happy travels, and happy hours.
